Car Park Resurfacing Leeds & Yorkshire.

Car park repairs, planing, asphalt resurfacing and line marking for commercial and managed sites. Atkinson Surfacing has delivered surfacing work in Yorkshire since 1965.

Repair or resurface?

Use the right treatment for the condition of the car park.

Not every failed area needs the same solution. We assess the surface, edges, drainage, traffic loading and the condition beneath the asphalt before recommending local repairs, an overlay or full resurfacing.

01

Localised patch repairs

Failed asphalt is cut out and replaced where defects are confined to specific areas, helping avoid unnecessary full-site resurfacing.

02

Planing & resurfacing

Where the existing surface is broadly worn or deformed, planing can remove the failed layer and establish controlled levels before new asphalt is laid.

03

Full reconstruction

Where the sub-base or underlying construction has failed, deeper excavation and reconstruction may be required before binder and surface courses are installed.

What we look at

A car park is more than the top layer.

Surface

Cracking, fretting and potholes

We look at the pattern and extent of visible defects to identify whether the failure is local or widespread.

Levels

Falls and drainage

Ponding water and poor falls can shorten the life of new surfacing, so drainage and finished levels form part of the assessment.

Traffic

Cars, vans and HGV loading

The intended use of the site affects the construction and specification required for a durable repair.

Access

Keeping the site operational

For working sites we can discuss phasing, access routes and sequencing to reduce disruption during the surfacing programme.

Edges

Kerbs and ironwork

Loose edgings, channels, covers and surrounding paving are checked so the finished surface ties into sound boundaries.

Finish

Line marking

Parking bays, disabled bays, directional arrows and other thermoplastic markings can be reinstated after surfacing.

Real project · Leeds

Sand Moor Golf Club.

A large live-site resurfacing project completed while the golf club remained operational. The existing surface was planed before approximately 300 tonnes of SMA10 were machine laid across around 2,000 m² over three days, followed by line marking.

Common questions

Car park resurfacing FAQs.

Does the whole car park need resurfacing?

No. If deterioration is localised, targeted cut-out repairs may be the best-value option. If cracking, fretting or deformation affects much of the surface, planing and resurfacing may provide a better long-term result.

Can you work around an operating business?

Where the layout permits, yes. We can discuss phasing and access arrangements during the survey so the programme is built around the way the site operates.

Do you include drainage and kerb repairs?

We can include associated drainage, channels, kerbs, edgings and local paving repairs where they form part of the resurfacing scope.

Can you reinstate the white lines afterwards?

Yes. Parking bays, disabled bays, arrows and other line markings can be included after the new surface has been completed.
